MOM's HEALTH TIPS
Summer is here and there's two words for you to remember... COCONUT OIL. It's the best, natural skin moisturizer that's also economical. Pure coconut oil usually comes congealed in a large tub-like container. However, once you take a small amount and rub it onto your skin, your body heat melts the oil and it applies easily on. When first applied you'll smell the coconut but it dissipates with in a few minutes. Great deals on the Internet, and or most health foods stores carry it.
Now, everyday you can feel like you're taking a vacation on a lovely, tropical island; laying under a gently, swaying coconut tree, being lulled by the sound of the turquoise, ocean waters ebbing onto the sandy beach. Not a bad way to start or end your day. MOM

WHAT IS A N.R.R.?
If you don't see me in MOM'S COSMIC DINIER'S * kitchen, I'm probably teaching my original Mind Over Matters Stress Reduction Workshop. I've created the B.A.L.M. formula, where each letter represents a tool you can easily remember and use during a stressful time.
A is for attitude...
We think 60,000 thoughts a day. Sometimes this is why our mind and body feel all knotted up. Many of these thoughts are what I refer to as a NON-REALITY-REALITY. When in a stressful situation we often launch ourselves either back to the past or into the future. Both are places where we have absolutely no control. It's only when we're firmly planted in the present... we can take care of the "business of life."
During the day when you're feeling stressed-out, ask yourself if your doing a NRR? If so, gently bring yourself back to the gift of being present. In doing so you'll begin to strategize solutions to your problems.
And next time you're in MOM'S COSMIC DINER try my valerian~peppermint tea. It helps to soothe the nervous system and relax the stomach.

Mmm, TASTY LITTLE NUGGETS
Hyper-focusing on those annoying "Rah-Rah Glitchy Phases" in our relationships can distort the root of the problem. When you find yourself dwelling only on negativity, it's time for your eyes and heart to soft focus as if looking through gauze. It's a gentle yet effective way to step back and shift the energy of the moment.

CLARITY HARVESTS... P.S.A.T.
As I meditate, I sometimes receive answers to questions or "see" a neon sign pointing me in the right direction. I refer to these meditative gifts as "clarity harvests."
While living in the British Virgin Islands, I learned my Four Spiritual Words. I was meditating, minding my breath when suddenly in my mind I heard a deep, rumbling sound, then saw this HUGE chiseled, granite letter T thrust from my "hara" (area below the navel where prana and chi energy is stored). I physically began to vibrate back and forth as I heard 'T R U S T' being shouted out in a baritone voice.
This was definitely a new and frankly, shocking experience. I remember bringing my mind back to the breath as my body started to relax. After my meditation I thought "What the heck was that all about? TRUST? Trust what? Why trust? What is trust?" I knew I needed to look at that concept and understand it in all ways. I'm not a fast learner and it took me about four months to understand what TRUST meant to me, particularly at that time in my life.
I thought that was the conclusion of my lesson. WRONG. One morning during meditation when the true meaning of TRUST finally, sifted down to every cell in my body the same scenario happened. Only this time it was the letter A for ACCEPTANCE that came roaring to life. Again, I was back to my cosmic classroom. My homework was to understand what is ACCEPTANCE?
This happened two more times over the course of one year. The next letter was S for SURRENDER then P for PATIENCE.
It was an amazing journey as I struggled, laughed, discovered and most importantly elevated myself to a higher awareness. Even with current challenges I often refer back to the "PSAT" words as I remind myself "What do I need to learn from this experience? Is it PATIENCE or SURRENDER, maybe it's ACCEPTANCE, perhaps TRUST." Many times it's all four.

MOM's BALM for STRESS...B is for BALANCE
In a previous post * I soared like a hawk as I observed the landscape of my life. I was getting stuck in stress-laden "mucky-muck." Yes, MOM often has her lessons presented in wide-screen and surround-sound.
Anyways, today I needed to create balance. And for me it's having down-time away from the world.
Perhaps, it's time to reflect on what balance means to you. Once you have the answer you can introduce this thought, image, intention, knowing, action, etc. into your life whenever you need or just desire it.
It's so amazing how we can do a cosmic flip away from negativity and downward energy. But that's another blog for another day.**
HAWK TOTEM
Meditation, yoga, tai chi, deep breathing, attitude adjustments and becoming a hawk helped. Now you may be wondering what I meant when I wrote "becoming a hawk." The Native Americans believe that animals, each with their unique qualities can teach and guide us. Hawk energy is the ability to hover high above one's life to "see" the entire landscape, the whole picture. And in doing so, this awareness helps in dealing with arising challenges.
Next time a mini-crisis or shift happens, close your eyes, breath deeply then spread out your wings and soar like a hawk for a different perspective.
(P.S. My computer is back from the Apple Hospital and it's like taking care of a newborn who has no memory.)

MANY LIFES
My friend and mentor, Sachi* is a gifted healer; one of her gifts is facilitating Past Life Regressions. I know it's hard for many people to "buy" into the concept of reincarnation. However, if you're curious about this topic, I suggest you read Dr. Brian Weiss' Many Lives, Many Masters.
Here's my observation as I was regressed for the first time, twenty years ago. It felt as if I was watching a movie in my mind. I was having a vivid, mental, experience as a Native American. I was a young male about 18 years old and living in the Southwest. I saw "myself" perched high at the edge of a mesa, in a squatting position. I sat there for hours as I patiently gazed and scanned the horizon. As this regression was unfolding the "present" me was thinking what is he looking for? I didn't have clue.
After this thought, I again found myself observing through the eyes of this young man and in the distance I saw a faint hint of beige dust. I watched the direction of and how the dust was becoming larger; billowing upward from the earth. I had found a herd of animals and it was time to alert my fellow warriors, so we could hunt and provide food for our tribe.
The insights from that experience were quite amazing. As a male I was concentrating on the horizon for hours at a time. I was with myself, not talking, just observing. This has helped me understand my husband's behavior. He doesn't like to multi-task, which is quite natural to me. He's quiet where I seem to chitter and chatter throughout the day. It's not that he's ignoring me, we're just genetically wired in different ways. And I finally understood why.
